At this year's NALC Conference and Awards Ceremony held in Eastbourne, Halewood Town Council were proudly awarded "Aon/Nalc Council of the Year" for 2008. In addition, the Town Council also picked up first prize for the "LCR/Co-Op Bank Annual Report of the Year" for 2008, and for the third time since 2004. This website picked up 3rd prize in the website category, whilst the Town Manager, John Green, also collected 3rd prize for "Clerk of the Year".
In judging the Council of the Year, NALC said; "The application for the award from Halewood Town Council clearly demonstrated the lead role this council takes in pursuing community projects. They always look to work in partnership, but are not afraid to take the first steps to spur others on. The judging panel were particulary impressed by the council's efforts in re-cycling, facilitating and funding of arts, cultural, sports and leisure projects."
On being awarded the Annual Report of the Year title, NALC offered the following; "Halewood Town Council's Annual Report was excellent and very hard to find fault with. It carries all the necessary information in a relatively eye catching way. And it works as a publication for the un-initiated as it gives an introduction about parish councils which is very good. The publication was very glossy with good use of images and illustrations."
Councillors Tom Fearns, and Harry Birch (Mayor of Halewood for 2008-9), along with John Green are pictured below collecting the trophies. In addition, both first prizes also come with a cheque for £500 towards a community project. A big congratulations to all elected members and staff of the Town Council !
